Traits
2D Ears (Unstable)
This trait essentially collapses a scarfoxes ear into a completely flat or near completely flat 2D plane. The stud of a fox's ear rests on top of the now flat surface, much like it was glued on there! Alone this trait is fairly simple in usage, the flat ear can be laid flat against the top of a fox's head either forward or backward, giving the illusion of it missing ears for personal artwork, NOT masterlist entries. This is for ease of seeing the trait in use, and to not create a false appearance of missing both ears on a fox.
This ear trait cannot be creased in the center to give it 3D depth due to the stiffness of the fused/melded fabric. The ears are thinnest for folding at the base connection to the top of the head
- Why is this trait unstable?
- These ears are sealed flat and "melded" together, preventing any mist from entering or leaving VS. Holes and tears where a fox's ear(s) remain in a 3D plane even when ripped apart in areas.
- These ears are sealed flat and "melded" together, preventing any mist from entering or leaving VS. Holes and tears where a fox's ear(s) remain in a 3D plane even when ripped apart in areas.
This trait is combinable with other head traits, such as:
- R floppy ears - the flat ear can be creased folded and crinkled up into shapes, even folded up like origami! These ears can also be rolled up with this trait into a cute tight curl!
- VR winged ears - can give a flat paper-like 3D folded wing look.
- VR Ear Extensions - to increase the effects you'd like to use on this! An idea of this would be U 2D ears, VR long floppy ears, to make long flowing curled ribbon-like ears!
This trait CANNOT:
- Have the standard 3D scarfox ear look, it must resemble the example image given for this trait!
Examples of some combinations can be seen below:
If you have any questions or concerns about this trait or possible combinations, please contact Darci or Benaberrry for further help!

Corrupted Wisps (Unstable)
This trait is automatically obtianed when a Hollow or Mystic Scarfox is attacked by a Yste soul and is turned into an Unstable Scarfox.
Body Zippers (Unstable)
This trait allows parts of a fox's body to be partially made up of zippers! These zippers can be real-life zippers like the one on your jacket, or made-up ones that look really funky in shapes and sizes! These zippers can replace important seam areas on a fox, and when mixed with certain traits can act as attachable and detachable limbs.
- Why is this trait unstable?
- The idea of Body Zippers (zippers in general) has been in discussion for some time with staffing due to its nature of function, and how that can contrast with the species base function and lore. In accordance with unreleased pending lore, this trait is best suited for Unstable.
- The idea of Body Zippers (zippers in general) has been in discussion for some time with staffing due to its nature of function, and how that can contrast with the species base function and lore. In accordance with unreleased pending lore, this trait is best suited for Unstable.
- Why not have it as VR Functional Item?
- Functional Item covers a large number of effects on the body, but zippers on their own give way to a fox being able to open and close parts of their body, which can deplete a fox of mist without many if any ways to replace it if made a standard trait. Alongside unreleased lore for the species, and functional items existing before we started deciding what makes an unstable trait unstable, staffing decided Body Zippers are best suited being both separate from Functional Item and for Unstable rarity.
- Members, however, are fine to have zippers on clothing add-ons with any rarity of fox for ML entries, such as on shoes, jackets, etc!
This trait is combinable with other body traits, such as:
- H chomper mouth - zipper would follow along the zig-zag of the teeth
- VR Floating Limbs - to allow a member to have a fox's body parts zip on and off!
- H Holes and Tears - for an untwisting part of the body to unzip!
- M Multiple eyes - to zip the eye shut if wanted!
- H Multiple mouths - for a similar effect vibe as multi-eyes
This trait CANNOT:
- Completely make up a body part (as in a fox's arm cannot be 100% zipper alone with this trait alone). If you'd like a fox's tail made up of just a zipper, VR Mystical Tail is best!
- Be used to replace another trait effect (such as you cannot use Body Zippers to make a detachable limb without having Floating Limbs in effect, and so on)
- Be used to make a scarfox look unrecognizable from the standard species anatomy for ML and prompt entries.
If you have any questions or concerns about this trait or possible combinations, please contact Darci or Benaberrry for further help!

Braided | Knotted Limbs (Unstable)
This trait allows a fox to have their fabric either separated into strips and braided, or doubled over and knotted up! Braids and knots can be of any type, and can be across the body, including the waistline and legs. Knotted Arms/Braided Arms must end in a "bundle" of fingers!
This trait can affect many areas of a fox, but if it affects too many areas where a staff member cannot tell it is a fox, you may have your entry rejected. Please check with MYO staffing, Benaberry, or Darci to see if your idea is okay!
- Why is this trait unstable?
- Braided/Knotted Limbs is where an area of the foxes body is separated into strips, all the way down to the end of that body section, then braided back over one another and refused/sealed into this braid with their fingers being knotted up! The limbs are tightly knotted in at least one area to prevent nearly any flow of mist into the rest of the body part. This alteration to a foxes body is painful, and having ones fingers in a permanent fumbling bundle doesnt feel the best.
- Why not have this be H holes and tears?
- this is due to the fact of the fabrics being refused together after the shredding or knotting. these knotted up areas cannot be undone, and can cause a great amount of problems with a foxes basic functions.
This trait can alter the following areas of a scarfox:
This trait is combinable with other traits, such as:
- VR Functional items - ideas like fiber optic cords came to mind when considering braided arms or body parts
- VR Floating Limbs - ideas like a knotted-up waist and torso hovering in the center of an otherwise pristine fox could give a cursed beauty vibe theme
- UC Spikes - to give a thorny vine look to affected arms
- H Holes and Tears - to give tendril-like shreds off the main knotted or braided areas
- M Spiritual arm
This trait CANNOT:
- Be unwoven in any way shape or form.
- Be used in a way to bypass other traits, or mimic things that may not be allowed for the scarfox anatomy. If you are unsure if your idea would work, please contact MYO staffing with a visual example of your idea!
- Alter the core scarfox anatomy so greatly that staffing cannot tell it is a scarfox
If you have any questions or concerns about this trait or possible combinations, please contact Darci or Benaberrry for further help!

Color Drain (Unstable)
This body trait allows a fox to be completely void of any and all color! (Note: The purple border is to help discern it as an Unstable trait in line with our color coding.)
- Why is this trait unstable?
- The mist has affected the fabric pigmentation of the scarfox by having to adjust to a drastic mist balance change, and subsequently took out all coloring on a fox's body, down to their ear studs! This trait does not remove UC Colored Teeth. Coloring to a fox is removed from both the outside and inside. The fox's mist does not change color.
Please make sure that you use contrasting grayscale lineart for the masterlist entry so we can see the Scarfox's form. The Scarfox cannot be a flat silhouette!
Subtype Effects:
Elemental cloaks are not sapped of their colors with this trait
Chameleon potions can be applied, but this can only change/shift the values on a fox. so if you have a fully white fox, the alt pallets can range from the white to black spectrum, so a fox can have their main white pallet, an alt grey pallet, and a third alt black pallet if desired!
Due to the way the chameleon potion works, certain values on a fox have the option of being changed or not. HOWEVER, this does not permit a grey fox with dark grey fingers to alt pallet into a grey fox with grey fingers of the same value, it must be discernably different to where a staff member can see the difference in value, so a dark grey or white may be a better option in this case!
This trait is combinable with other traits, such as:
- any and all traits available to the species - excluding U Corrupted Wisps due to lore
Traits that are NOT affected by Color Drain, but have the option:
- R Runes and Wisps
- M Floating Eyes
- H Black Halo, U Cracked Halo, M Halo
- H Void Eye - permits value shifting to show up in contrast to a fox's base value, NOT to blend into the face and become unviewable (you would be best with H Missing Eyes instead!
- U Void Head - Can change value only
This trait alone CANNOT:
- Have any hint of color or saturation across the body in any way shape or form, but accessories with color are fine!
- Be used on a fox's eye to make it appear like H Sockets or H Void Eyes, a highlight in the eye must be present for ML entries for ease of discernability
If you have any questions or concerns about this trait or possible combinations, please contact Darci or Benaberrry for further help!

Cross Mouth (Unstable)
This head trait permits one use of either or split options offered below! The Cross-Mouth trait is an unstable trait that permits a second mouth to split alongside the normal mouth chosen! the normal mouth is able to be twisted and turned to rest on an X-axis or + axis as shown below.
- Why is this trait unstable?
- This is due to the way it alters a fox's facial structure and mouth functionality.
- This is due to the way it alters a fox's facial structure and mouth functionality.
- Why is this Unstable but Rare vertical mouth isn't?
- Vertical mouth was made before we truly established what makes an unstable trait unstable, and to prevent future confusion with traits we are leaving it as is! this also gives members a less rare option to choose without needing something as rare as an unstable potion!
This trait is combinable with other head traits, such as:
- R Vertical Mouth - to give a 3rd split in combo with an x-axis split
- H Chompers
- UC Fangs and Tusks - to give a disheveled toothy appeal
- U Unhinged - to continue the split down a fox's head and neck, etc! (if choosing this combo, please note your ML entry will need a headshot showing the mouths CLOSED to create the main head)
This trait CANNOT:
- Go past the head/face area.
- Be used on H multiple mouth to create X and or + axis mouths across the body, as this is a head trait.
- Be merged with any non-teeth affecting the trait.
Examples of the axis splits can be found below:
If you have any questions or concerns about this trait or possible combinations, please contact Darci or Benaberrry for further help!

Mirrored Head (Unstable)
Mirrored Head allows a fox to have perfect copies of its face come out of the back and or sides of the original head. These faces all share one head base, connected to a single neck. When using this trait, all faces must mirror the traits of the other faces, so if a fox has UC colored teeth, all teeth need to be colored, but can be differing colors!
While the heads are merged at the back to a single neck base, ears may also be fused together side by side (not back to back or front to front)
- Why is this trait unstable?
- The fox's heads are not the only thing that splits and or duplicates! Foxes with this trait contain multiple consciousnesses within them!
SPOILED FOR DARK LORE:
The soul before coming to this realm could have had their collective souls merged into one entity by the souls choice before reaching the All Mother, leading to this trait giving each one its own voice and face. Likewise, the fox in question before having this trait added, may have been of one sound mind in the beginning, then split into separate pieces of its inner concious as the Unstable trait tore them apart from the inside, being too much to handle. Any fox afflicted with this trait is not of sound mind, and are very tormented souls who cannot get a grasp on their surroundings, new life, or even their bodies, and end up wandering or causing large problems out of their own control. For a fox that would have more stable control over their minds, Multiple Limbs (heads) is a better option!
This trait is combinable with other traits, such as:
- VR Winged Ears/VR Wings - for biblically accurate angel vibes
- VR Growth
- R Vertical Mouth
- U Void Head
- U Unhinged - (mouths can go down the neck and connect at a single point, splitting off in a Y shaping from the collarbone up. The mouths hinge then via the center back connection where all heads are fused)
This trait CANNOT:
- Have less than a complete second face attached to the head at a horizontal level (half-formed face splitting from another is not allowed)
- Have the heads fused vertically (the bottom of the head merged with the top of another head)
- Have an unreasonable amount of heads
- Have the heads on separate necks and entirely separate heads, if you wish for this effect M Multiple Limbs is the trait for you!
- Have traits differing per head, such as one head cannot have UC colored teeth without the other head having UC colored teeth.
If you have any questions or concerns about this trait or possible combinations, please contact Darci or Benaberrry for further help!
This information may be updated in the future to better explain and structure this information for the benefit of the staffing and community.
Void Head (Unstable)
This trait turns your standard fabric and mist-filled scarfox head into something that's not really a solidified head anymore! A pitch black empty billowing of unknown matter consumes a fox's head down to the mist, leaving the fox with nothing but its mouth intact! Its studs and ears turned to blend into the void, what goes on inside is... unknown.
- Differing ear shape traits will affect the shape the void takes on in that location, so if one has UC smoosh, your void area would mirror that shape area.
- Teeth/mouth-affecting traits would stay intact, and would not be consumed by the void.
- Traits like M Stardrops, R Stitched Eye, H Empty Socket, and H Void Eye will remain tangible on the surface of the void area, but will warble and shift with the mass itself, U Stardrops may appear as if bleeding off into the void.
- The traits Void eyes and Hollow Sockets will go from back to white in the instance of being used with this trait, due to the duel negatives turning the additional trait into a positive, alongside U Color Drain only trait combo that can turn void eyes any other value or color opposed to black.
- If using Elemental Cloak, the cloak must look like an add-on, and not a replacement for the void heads area (so one cannot just turn the void heads coloring different and call it fire, an extra amount of fire/effects must be added on to look like it's added on TOP of the void head)
- Why is this trait unstable?
- For its effects on the scarfox being so incredibly drastic, these heads can be blown over and leveled with the fox's mouth, giving the illusion for a brief moment that a fox has no top half to its head at all!
This trait is combinable with other head traits, such as:
- H Void Eyes - your void eyes need to be of a different color to your head void so we can see they have the trait! this can be a subtle change or a strongly contrasting one!
- any available ear stud trait
- Any available ear shape traits - VR winged ears, UC smooshed, R floppy, etc. The only exclusion is long floppy due to the distance it pulls away from the core of the head, alongside the effects this trait has on the ear area of a fox.
- M Multiple Limbs (heads) - this trait can coat the entire mass of the heads, but the mouths and ears must stay in the place they normally rest
- U Mirrored Head
- U Color Drain - can change the value from black up to white
Traits that are NOT affected by Void Head, but have the option:
- TBD
This trait CANNOT:
- Only cover some parts of the head
- Be mixed with U container head, as they would cancel each other out
- Have the head look beyond the scarfox standard anatomy for the masterlist entry, personal artwork is another thing though. even so, this trait does not permit the shaping of a scarfoxes head into things like animal muzzles, beaks, or shapes/alterations that would break the core anatomy of our species, for both ML entries and prompt entries.
Examples of this trait being combined with void eyes can be seen below:
If you have any questions or concerns about this trait or possible combinations, please contact Darci or Benaberrry for further help!
This information may be updated in the future to better explain and structure this information for the benefit of the staffing and community.
Unhinged (Unstable)
This trait allows a scarfox's mouth to open and extend beyond the head's general capacity, leaving a fox able to open up its mouth much wider than ever before, expanding the number of teeth a fox may have as well!
- Why is this trait unstable?
- Unstable traits tend to be on a much more unhelpful, if not harmful side to scarfoxes, and can heavily alter a fox's appearance and functionality at times. The mouth spanning past the head is a special effect this trait does while remaining a head trait. Alongside these things, a Scarfox will have issues trying to eat or speak, as with a longer open mouth formulating words is a lot harder with such a long mouth, typically leading to more guttural noises than actual words. Some foxes also lack the control to be able to hold these mouths closed, leaving one to see a dropped jaw with a long tongue hanging out of it. Some unstable foxes tend to wrap their necks up to hold that lower section closed so they can form clearer words, and function like they used to.
This trait is combinable with other head traits, such as:
- R Ripped Mouth - which could in theory help keep the longer mouth more manageable and closed
- R Vertical Mouth - for a mouth split down the center of the head going beyond the stopping forehead and chin neck-like area!
- U Crossed Mouth
- H Chompers
- VR Closed Mouth - which may seem painful, but maybe a preferred choice to a fox vs. a long hanging open jaw
This trait CANNOT:
- Go beyond the visual guides
- Be split into different ways without the appropriate trait combined for the desired effect! If you're not sure which trait will give which effect, feel free to DM a MYO staff member with a visual example!
Examples of this trait being combined with others can be seen below:
