The one piece anime binge has been strong, and getting through their desert arc and sky arc i got inspired by the colors and how trecherous the desert and ancient ruins can be! In mixing with this i was reminded of wan shi tongs library from ATLA, and wanted to play around with holes and tears on a more extreme level, fully splitting the arms in half! leaving the fox with an eerie pattern on the inside that resembles what the soul saw before they passed on, now on an eternal journey to find that city again someday.
I'd imagine with arms split in half, theres not much strength in picking up or holding anything while splayed open like that, but the arms can refold over one another and gain back some form of strength! Split apart they feel more like a defensive mechanism, to spook and scare others away so they dont follow them or find what they're looking for!
