An Exciting Eggstravaganza - Writing
It was a calm night in the Scarfox Realm. The young fox Silas was yawning as he slender to his makeshift bed, setting a brown basket in front of it. He hums as he sits down, looking towards the brown homemade basket. The baskets were made of wood like stripes wrapped around each other carefully to create the basket. Some small wood pieces can be seen looking out here and there, but they are proof of the hard work the blue Scarfox put into his work. A small green clover is wrapped around the rim of the basket, showing four small leaves. Silas chuckles. He was quite a lucky guy finding this clover a few days ago. The fox was heading to the hidden garden, a quiet and calm place in the realm where most go to to just relax and enjoy nature. But around this time many clovers spread across the garden creating fields of "luck", as Silas said. And Silas got lucky.
Looking one last time at the basket he starts to lay down on his bed, staring at the ceiling of the room. Tomorrow it was time to find some colorful eggs in the Windy Valley. Yukina, Mortimer and him will meet tomorrow to find eggs together and hopefully be able to create some mystery eggs. Silas liked the small little pets that came out of these eggs, but some of them did confuse them. I mean, how does a ghost pet come out of an egg?
Silas shakes his head and tries to focus again on the colorful egg hunt. He already marked some places where he thinks eggs could be and where not. Of course they could appear everywhere, but the fox wasn't very interested in climbing mountains for just a single egg, even though he would just stay on the mountain watching the night sky.
Silas yawns again. It seems his thoughts and excitement slowly make him more and more tired. The last yawn made him decide to finally let the night rest and sleep until morning. "Good night, everyone" he whispers quietly to everyone in this realm before he slowly drifts off to sleep.
The Scarfox awakes, he smiles excited knowing it was the next day. He chuckled in excitement and went to get out of his bed. Suddenly he stopped, a loud disappointed groan escaping the blue fox. "It's not even midnight?" he let out while staring at his clock. "I thought I slept longer"
He scratches his head before laying back down. He really needed to sleep. Silas was aware that Scarfoxes might don't need any sleep at all, but he wanted to so that the hours went by faster. He sighs putting his blanket on him, trying to fall asleep a second time.
A knocking can be heard on Silas door once the morning has arrived. He got lucky to not awake another time at night. Instead the fox would have gotten quite frustrated and would have quit sleeping for that day.
After a small pose the knocking can be heard again. It was a bit louder than the one before, slowly waking up Silas slumber. He yawns and stretches his tired scarfarms. "I'm coming!" he says while getting up from his bed, slowly tumbling towards his door.
With a quiet squeaking noise the wooden door opens up to the arrived guest.
"Good morning" Silas hums quietly, still feeling tired from all the sleep he has gotten.
"Gee, didn't get enough sleep?" the fox in front of him said while inspecting Silas.
It was Mortimer, one of Silas friends, at least he thinks of Mortimer as a friend.
The grey fox moves his arm up showing the time.
"It is 9am, shouldn't you be way more fit than that?" he asks before crossing his arms.
"I know" Silas answers and rubs the back of his neck, slowly waking up fully. "I guess I just had too much sleep."
The blue fox laughs a bit, and even Mortimer couldn't keep a small chuckle to himself.
"Well then, we shouldn't lose too much time. Yukina asked me to get you sleepy head, while she heads to the Windy Valley. We shouldn't keep her waiting for too long." Silas nods in response to Mortimer's words.
"You're right! I'll just quickly get my egg basket. Then we can go and meet Yukina. While the grey fox nods, Silas rushes back inside his home and bedroom, picking up his homemade basket, before heading back to Mortimer.
"I'm ready- wait, where is your basket Mortimer?" Silas just now realized that his friend arrived without an egg basket himself. "Do you need one? I might have one laying around."
Mortimer shakes his head as he grins. "I have one. Yukina just took it with her already, even though I told her not to." he sighs and pushes Silas out of the house closing the door. "Now come, I hate being late" the grey fox huffs before leading the way.
"So.... Sorry" Silas responds as he quickly follows behind Mortimer. Mortimer is a fox who loves being in time. In result he hates it when others need too long. Thankfully this behavior kind of stops when he is around his friends or acquaintances. Silas smiles happily as he looks around the area, wondering how long they need to go to the Windy Valley.
After around half an hour later, the two Scarfoxes arrived at the Windy Valley place. A long field of just grass opens up to them, moving gently in the wind. Further in the back you are able to spot some bamboo forests and some shrines and houses that have been built here probably centuries ago. Silas glances around the field to see if he can spot the leopard marked Scarfox. Mortimer said she was already here, probably collecting some eggs already she found on the way. Silas now looks at his own basket where already two eggs are snuggling against each other. On their way up to the hill he and Mortimer both found a colored egg. Since he was the only one with a basket they decided that Silas keeps them for now until they meet up with Yukina.
"Hey you both!" a shy but happy voice speaks to them. A slender Scarfox walks over to the other to foxes, a smile all across her face. "Good morning Silas! I hope you slept well." she giggled before handing Mortimer his basket. "And your basket! I already found some eggs so I split them already." She said before walking over to Silas, dropping some more eggs into his basket, but stops seeing the two eggs inside. "Oh? You found some as well already?"
Silas nods as he picks one of the eggs. "Me and Mortimer found each an egg when we went up here." He smiles, handing Mortimer his egg. "But gee, you already found many eggs Yukina, you're quite lucky."
"Just a little bit. I mean you guys took quite your time." she giggles putting some eggs in Silas basket before turning towards both of them. "Are you ready to find more?"
"Definitely." Mortimer responses with a grin looking determined to find more colorful eggs, and Silas nods eager and in excitement. All of them three nod before heading off on the field to find eggs.
It didn't take long for them to find some. Just hidden in the grass or even some bushes they were able to find the easter eggs. Silas picked up two red ones from the soft and wavy grass as he inspects them. Nothing was damaged and they slightly shimmered when he was holding it against the sun. "Two more!" he says while dropping the new found eggs into his basket. Silas eat twitches hearing the other two responses from further away.
"I've got three!" Mortimer proudly announces while climbing out of one of the many bushes on this field. He holds out three eggs, two yellow ones and one purple. "I hope we don't collect them all away. Not that the others don't have any anymore." he laughs as he drops the new collected items in his basket.
"I don't think so." Yukina responds and drops one blue egg into her basket. "I heard the magic in this place lets them appear every now and again. There should be enough for all of the realms residents." she giggles and heads over to Silas, and is soon followed by Mortimer.
"How many eggs do you guys have so far?" Mortimer asks once the group came back together. Silas blinks before looking at his basket. "I.... Didn't count them yet. But I'm sure I should have at least ten?" he answers before going to count his collected eggs.
"I got fifteen." Yukina proudly announces holding up her basket to the others. But only because I found some so early on.
Mortimer sighs with a smile. "I only got twelve, but it's better than nothing."
"I have twelve too." Silas looks back up and at Mortimer. "I guess we have to hurry up to not fall behind Yukina." The blue fox chuckles and Mortimer nods in response to him. "Seems like it."
"How about we head to the bamboo forest next?" Yukina suggests and points at the bamboo plants. While being far away when they arrived at this place, they now were super close to them. "While we head there we can look out for more eggs. I'm sure it would be fun to look around the bamboos to find some more."
Silas and Mortimer nod before Silas takes the lead to the bamboo forest.
The three of them look around in awe once they arrive in the bamboo forest. On their way they got lucky finding a few more eggs, making Mortimer the leading egg collector while Silas and Yukina were maybe only one or two eggs behind. "Let's hope we don't get lost here. They seem larger than I originally thought they would be." Mortimer speaks out his concerns as he looks around the area before back at his two friends. "How about we do it like in this one story? Where two children out a track on the ground which they can follow to get back to the beginning?" Yukina suggests as she looks at the others. "Do we have something that we can put out an track? Like a yarn string or something?" Silas looks at the others but it looks like no one really had anything they can lay down for them to track down. Suddenly Mortimer seems to get an idea. He breaks off a small wooden stick from the ground and puts it into a place of dirt. "What are you up to?" Yukina asks and kneels down next to Mortimer while Silas glances over their shoulders. "I'm trying to figure out where the north is. We can use that technique to know where the exit is." he responses. "It seems the exit is in the west. Everyone should take a stick and if they get lost they can use this to know where the exit is." Mortimer looks at the others before getting a stick for them too. "That's a great idea! That way we don't have to fear getting lost." Yukina responses and takes her stick. "Yes, especially if the three of us split up." Silas takes his own stick looking at the others. "Ready?" The other two foxes nod before the three of them walk into the bamboo forest.
It didn't take too long for them to split up and each one taking their own lead. Silas smiles as he spots an egg or two every now and again on the ground or even in the bamboos themselves. He never thought it would be this easy to collect so many eggs, especially all in just one day. He wonders how many new friends they could make out of all these eggs. Silas couldn't hesitate and let out a laugh. Imagine they all would only be missing one color so they couldn't recreate an mystery egg. His laughing quickly stopped, realizing how much bad luck they would have if that was the case.
The Scarfox shook his head and continued his search in the wilderness of the forest, wondering if the others got just as lucky as him.
One hour later both Mortimer and Silas walked out of the forest, both holding up their baskets with many eggs. "I got thirty now." Mortimer proudly says while looking at his opponent. "I got twenty-nine. I guess you're the winner between the two of us." Silas chuckles before looking around. "Is Yukina still inside the forest?"
"I think so. Instead she would be here with us or waited for us to come out." Mortimer scratches his cheek looking back at the forest. "Let's wait a few minutes. If she still doesn't arrive we might check on her." Silas nods as both of them sit down on the ground waiting for their last friend to arrive. But even after another half an hour there was still no sign of Yukina.
"I'm slowly worrying about her. What if she got lost and can't use the technique you showed us?" Silas seemed concerned and even Mortimer started to worry about their friend. "I'm worried too that this is the case.... Let's go and find her." Mortimer gets back up, waiting for Silas to go back into the forest.
It was slowly getting darker and it wasn't the best time to get lost in a forest while it is pitch black. Both of the foxes yell Yukina's name, but they don't get a response. "Do you think she is okay? What if she is hurt?"
Silas didn't want to imagine that their friend got hurt. What if she hit her head and got knocked out? Or what if an animal hurt her? "Let's hope she is fine-" Both foxes look up and around hearing Yukina's voice close by.
"Here guys!" Looking through the bamboo they were able to spot a white and black spotted figure waving their arm at them. Both Silas and Mortimer sigh in relief, knowing that their friend is not hurt.
"You scared us Yukina." Mortimer promptly says when heading over to Yukina's spot. "We thought you got hurt!" Silas adds while following the grey fox.
"Oh? I'm sorry you both! I didn't mean to scare you." Yukina responses, looking a bit guilty as she feels bad for scaring her friends. "But-" she says with a slight smile again, "look what I found!"
Once the other two arrive they open their eyes to the beautiful sight that opened up to them. Yukina found an opening space in the forest, several eggs can be found on all the bamboo trees, sparkling beautifully in the dawn of the day as the orange light of the sun shines through the leaves of the forest.
Some smaller animals can be seen jumping from tree to tree, inspecting the new comers cautiously.
"I change my mind." Mortimer suddenly says, turning to his friends, especially Yukina. "I'm glad you got 'lost'. Instead we would have never seen this beautiful place." All of them laugh a bit before they decide to just wait a little while longer there enjoying the last moments of this wonderful day.
