"Don't they look a bit tacky in the scene?"
"Shoosh! I've had them for a long time, they mean something to me!"

This is based on my Grandma always having a big table in December, that was fitted with a fleece to imitate snow and decorated with a little village and all her favorite ornaments.

Something about it always felt way more Christmassy to me than most things and I think about it a lot.
