The Sweet Side of Summer

Despite not entirely liking Summer himself, Prince usually found things he could enjoy through the season, but he certainly preferred Autumn with its mixed temperatures and beautiful colours, he agreed to help Dipsi find a way to show Fleur the better side of Summer.

The Hidden Garden being a place that most scarfoxes would go to to relax. Definitely one of Prince’s favourite places to be, the colours, the smells, the sounds, so perhaps here would be or is the best place for Fleur to enjoy Summer?

Prince was heading there with Dipsi “So, The Spring God doesn’t like Summer..? I mean… wouldn’t that make sense? Their season being Spring and all… But I suppose there would be no harm, in helping them to find some enjoyment in the Summer…” He spoke with a puzzled tone as he walked, his cloak almost touching the ground as he went.

“Is… There anything specific they don’t like?” Prince asked.

“FROM WHAT I HAVE HEARD, SHE FEELS IT IS TOO HOT AND CAUSES THE SPRING PLANTS TO WILT, THAT THERE IS BARELY BREEZES TO KEEP ONESELF COOL, AND TOO MANY BUGS” Dispi spoke.

Prince nodded a bit as he listened, “...well i can understand the too many bugs…But there are certainly more ways to cool off than just a breeze,  I mean something i enjoy most in the summer is sitting in the shade of the trees, Usually with an ice cream or an ice lolly, or even an iced drink… so thats always a good way to help keep yourself cool. Mayhap that is something to try? Or at the least suggest to her?”

“BUT WHAT OF THE OTHER PROBLEMS, THE LACK OF SPRING FLOWERS BECAUSE OF THE HEAT AND SUMMER FLOWERS? OR THE TOO MANY BUGS?”

Prince continued walking, smiling at the smell of the flowers in the Hidden Garden, “well, even summer flowers have their own smells.” he said, sitting himself under a tree, he motioned for Dipsi to sit as well.

“And some of the insects that are around are still ones that help with the spring flowers, so not all of them are bad.. Unless she of course means the little irritating flies…. I don’t really have much to say about that… I just… Other than most where i see them is usually by ponds… and rivers… but that may just be my experience… Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing! Nothing wrong with the ponds, rivers.. Any water. But that is often where i find there to be the most bugs. Unless its the beach… but if it’s here, if Fleur comes here, then, maybe it’d be better to not be too close to ponds, rivers, waterfalls….I don’t imagine that would make her very happy…”
Prince mumbled, pondering through ideas,

“Or! or … now hear me out… Cause this is another of my favourite things!” he gasped.

“I’M LISTENING” Dispi was waiting, clearly wanting any ideas they could get, so they could show the Spring God the better sides of Summer.

“Well, it usually cools down on a night, and theres usually less bugs around, i mean obviously theres moths and things, but theres also, Bats and Crickets… you know, some animals make noises and they’re just so sweet to listen to in the summer, because it’s so calming, especially mixed with the quiet of night, or evening if you still want more light. But there is still a cooler temperature.

“But if it’s night then there’s usually often clear skies in summer, so anyone can see the sky, and thats one of my favourite things to do, star gaze, specifically in the summer… Seriously… Not too cold, and sometimes not too warm, so that you can spend ages, just laying and looking at the sky… or sitting… Mix that with the natural sounds and silence. It’s perfectly stunning.”

“BUT THE FLOWERS?” Dipsi mentioned.

“...Yeah the flowers might be a problem… But still the flowers here smell really nice.. Perhaps that will help her?”

“SO THAT IS YOUR IDEA?” Dipsi questioned.

Prince nodded with a level of confidence, “Not everyone enjoys the Summer during the day, but Evenings and Nights can be just as good, It’s still something, even if it’s not during the day, it’s still part of Summer.” he smiled adjusting and leaning back against the trunk of the tree he sat under.

Even without a breeze, the smell of the flowers here still carried, and the sound of the waterfall, moving water, he really did just find it all soothing.

“IT WOULD BE A GOOD WAY TO SHOW HER A BETTER PART OF SUMMER, I SHALL MAKE SURE THAT IT IS DONE”

Prince watched Dipsi get up from the grass, clearly hopeful that any idea given would be attempted, in hope to show Fleur that somethings in Summer can be enjoyed.
He was also hopeful that whatever Dipsi tried would help Fleur see something good about Summer.

Having to come up with any ideas at first, Prince wasn’t even sure if anything he suggested would be helpful, they were really just things he enjoyed about Summer, his favourite things to do, that made it more special for himself.

He stayed sat under the tree, enjoying the shade as he watched Dipsi leave, he wondered if maybe, Dipsi would return to tell him whether the idea worked, or perhaps bring Fleur so that he could explain it, but thinking about it, how would he explain it to the Spring God, would it be explained the same way as he had spoke to Dipsi?
He hoped that Dipsi would be able to explain it to Fleur, and really hoped that he had luck in helping her see the better things in Summer, than only seeing those that are negative.

“...Spring and Summer are so close together… honestly… i’d half expect the god of spring to at least like something about the seasons…” Prince sighed to himself before getting up.

“Maybe i’ll offer to help Dipsi further with the task…” He said quietly before looking around, to see if he could still see the other.
