A Quest Completed
Thunder cracked, as lightning flickered brightly across the sky. The boom was tremendous, and certainly frightened Noir, even though she enjoyed rainy weather, thunder made her jump quite a bit. Noir mostly stayed hidden from other beings, and didn’t have any place to stay permanently. She was quite tall, with long arms with eyes on the end of either hand, she was also half blind, which is why she wore glasses. She had carried a spell book out with her while she traveled this new land while her familiar, Gia. It was a blue-ish lizard with red spots and gems for eyes, of course, it could see...somehow. Noir and Gia lay under a tree while the rain falls harshly and the thunder roars quietly in the distance. She sighed, “another day, more rain..is that not swell, Gia?” in a sarcastic tone, she summoned one of her runes to provide light and a bit of coverage for her book. It was pretty dark due to the storm clouds. Gia nestled on Noir’s shoulder and curled up to watch her read. Noir opened the spell book to a page where she had a feather marker keeping the page. On it, there was a picture of a certain land full of mountains, water, and tons of plant life, however there was something else, but the page had been torn there, whatever it may have been. Noir studied the page intently and read the inscriptions. “I think we may be onto something here, when the sun was out, I could see the mountains in the distance..we should be on the right path. Then we can finally see what’s there!” she said excitedly, she had been wanting to travel out there for a long time now, and finally, this was her chance. Her eyes traveled across the page and then stopped. “Follow the light, and you find a relic, of something you might like..” Again, Noir sighed “I still don’t understand what this means..there’s got to be something, but I don’t know, what do you think, Gia?” Noir looked over on her shoulder to see Gia, a sleeping one at that. She smiled and then gently laid back on the tree bark, careful not to disturb Gia. The sound of the rain getting to her head, making her slowly but surely, drifted off to sleep. All she could think about, was the treasure that could be hidden on the new land. “Follow...the light..”
The next day, it was still raining, but more of a small drizzle, which didn’t bother Noir, or Gia for that matter, but it preferred to stay on her shoulder. Looking up, Noir saw a slight glimpse of the sun, and not too far from it, some type of...ray? “Hm? What might that be? Some type of light of some sort, but multicolored...wait..light..light!!” She followed its path with her gaze and saw that it went over near the mountains she saw the previous day. Smiling brightly, she jumped up, Gia springing to life and skittering to Noir’s other shoulder “Follow the light!! That’s it! That’s what it meant, Gia, Look!” She pointed in the direction of the mountains, where the multicolored light’s path went. The eyes on her arm followed her pointing finger, and so did Gia’s gaze, then it looked back at her caretaker. “That is where we must go, let us make haste, I’m too excited to wait any longer!” Grabbing her spell book and opening it again, and making sure Gia was still on her shoulder, Noir began to walk in the direction of the light. Along the way they saw many different flowers, and trees, specifically ones with long leaves. Noir also picked up a few colored flowers, they were her favorite, she often put them in her hair because she loved the way they looked. She tucked the ones she had in her spell book, she was happy with the colors she had found, pink, a pastel purple and a blue one. Gia had grown fond of the pink one and attempted to grab it with its sticky hands. “No no, this is for my studies, little one, here..I’ll get you a smaller one,” Noir found a little pink flower sticking out of the bottom of a bush and put it near Gia’s head, who instantly took it in its hands, and sort of held it under its head. “Silly thing, now, let’s keep moving! We’re almost there” Noir said happily, and continued her journey. The rain was still falling, but not as hard as it was the previous day, Noir looked up to make sure the multicolored light was still there, and, it was! So, she continued to follow, but as she got closer to the mountains, everything around her seemed to ge brighter and soon enough, she found herself standing the the midst of a beautiful sight. Tons of flowers and bushes everywhere! Mountains, and even a good sized waterfall could be seen beyond where she was standing. “This..this is amazing, Gia! I Can’t believe we have found it for real! It is much better than the images in the book I must say.” Gia, still holding its flower bounced its head up and down a few times, as if to say it was also dumbfounded at the sight they were both winessing. Noir then walked around for awhile, looking at all the plant life and even documenting her findings in empty pages of her spell book. Then, heading towards the waterfall she stumbled on something, after catching her balance she looked back and saw something shiny in the grass. “What’s this..?” Getting on her knees she picked up the object and sat up, holding it too close to her face. It was sort of oval shaped and blue looking. The eyes on her hands were looking at the object as well as Noir held it up to her good eye. She shook it, but didn’t hear anything inside. “An..egg of some sort? Was this the treasure to be discovered in this place?” She then remembered one of the spell mixtures she had learned, finding these colored eggs could be made into one, and birth a new companion. Getting excited once more, Noir got up and smiled. She could give Gia a new friend to play with, perhaps. Well, either way, Noir was going to find more of these eggs, and make it happen, for her quest to find this land, was complete.
